D/O Annette Haygood 

Since taking on the role as Youth Services Coordinator, Mrs. Haygood has done an outstanding job in growing the Fire Explorer Program and developing the Firefighter Dual Enrollment Program. She has been in the fire industry for 16 years and her dedication and commitment are unparalleled.  Building the program from the ground up, Mrs. Haygood began by working with Georgia Piedmont Technical College and the DeKalb County School District. Over 80 students attended the informational meeting at the five selected schools and 48 students enrolled. This past May, 24 seniors graduated. Of those, 10 are currently in the application process with the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department! This program, led by DO Haygood, is a prime example of the positive initiatives that result when organizations work together. She is credited for this program’s early success and her dedication and effort will now save hundreds, if not thousands, of lives in the many years to come, while those she has trained serve as first responders to the citizens of DeKalb County.
